The Philadelphia Eagles have claimed running back Lamar Gordon off waivers from the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins were able to get rid of Gordon after drafting Ronnie Brown in the first round and getting Ricky Williams to return.
Gordon will be the team's backup running back after the team learned that Correll Buckhalter tore his patella tendon and would be out for the entire season yet again.
"Lamar is a big back with good speed and quickness," said Eagles coach Andy Reid. "He also has the ability to catch the ball which will help him in this offense."
Gordon spent his first two seasons with the St. Louis Rams where he was highly thought of. The Rams traded him to the Dolphins two days before the start of last season for a third-round draft pick. Gordon played in three games before dislocating his shoulder and missing the rest of the season.
The Eagles were looking for a power running back, and Gordon looks to be their answer.
