Heading into the season, the Philadelphia Eagles didn't have a true No. 1 receiver. After acquiring Donte Stallworth from the New Orleans Saints, it looked as if he would be the No. 1 man. However, after an injury to Stallworth, he has not been able to play the full season. That's where Reggie Brown has stepped up and filled that void - and the Eagles rewarded him.
The Eagles awarded Brown a five-year contract extension worth around $27 million with about $10 million in guaranteed money. Brown has 26 catches for 502 yards and six touchdowns this season. He has made several big plays, a reason he's averaging 19.3 yards a catch.
"Money has nothing to do with what I do on the field," said Brown. "I still have to go out there and play and prove myself. I love this city and I love this team. I have no problem playing here for however long it'll be. This organization is committed to winning."
Brown has been far different from the controversial Terrell Owens. Brown has been known for his hard work ethic. Besides Owens, Brown could be the best receiver the Eagles have had in years.
