Ben Roethlisberger has done broken the all time rookie winning streak, at seven games. Right behind him this season is Chicago Bears quarterback Craig Krenzel, with three wins in his first three starts. Could Eli Manning be make the third impressive quarterback streak this season? The Giants certainly hope so.

After starting the season on fire, the Giants offense has cooled down the past few weeks. It may or may not have been Kurt Warner's fault, but it was time for Eli Manning to get a chance. After all, isn't it better that your rookie QB gets as much experience as possible the first year you draft them?

Last year, Carson Palmer sat behind Jon Kitna. If Palmer had played all of last year, could the Bengals be making a more serious wildcard run right now? Byron Leftwich was the Jaguars starter last year, as they decided to sit Mark Brunell. If they had decided to sit Leftwich and start him this year, would the Jaguars be in contention right now?

One huge difference is in this years draft, with Ben Roethlisberger. If Maddox never got injured, Big Ben may not be playing right now. Maddox getting injured was the best thing that could have happened for the Steelers organization. I don't mean that in a malicious manner for Maddox; but the Steelers may be a .500 team right now without Big Ben in there.

Now we get the Giants with Manning. If Warner did enough to send the Giants to the playoffs, they would not have enough to get through the playoffs with Warner. If they missed the playoffs, then Eli Manning will have had hardly any game experience in his first year. Now, there is still time. When Manning makes his first NFL start against the Falcons this week, he could deliver a spark like his brother Peyton Manning does in Indianapolis.

If Eli has success right away, that could be the difference between making the playoffs, or even going deep in the playoffs.

The biggest mistake the Giants could make now is replacing Manning. I highly doubt that will occur unless it's via injury. You can not take Manning out, even if the game is blown out 34-0. Manning needs to learn from his mistakes, not have his confidence shot of being replaced. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said it right, "He is the future of the New York Giants, it just starts now."

Wise choice coach.
