Tennessee Titans tight end Erron Kinney was placed on the injured reserve on Friday due to a right knee injury he's been suffering from. Kinney had undergone a second knee operation, and had hopes to return until he had inflammation in the joint last week.
"It was a hard decision for us, but we've waited as long as we can, and it would appear that he was still several weeks, if not more, away to getting back on the practice field," said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher.
Kinney recorded 55 catches for 543 yards last year. The Titans still have two reliable tight ends on their roster.
The Titans made another roster move by signing long snapper Jon Dorenbos. The Titans needed another long snapper after their usual snapper, Ken Amato, suffered a thigh injury and will be out this week.
"We just wanted to make sure our bases were covered," Fisher said. "It made sense to go ahead and get Jon back under contract."
