The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed wide receiver Brian Finneran to a four-year deal worth about $8 million. The Falcons have not had a "great" wide receiver for years, but Finneran has been consistant in what he has been able to do.

Last year, Finneran caught 60 passes for 611 yards after Michael Jenkins and Roddy White never really broke out. Other teams were interested in Finneran, but he wanted to stay put.

"It was tough to say no to Atlanta," Finneran said. "With all things being relatively equal, we definitely wanted to stay here."

On top of being a receiver, Finneran also plays on special teams often. The Falcons wanted to retain the receiver because he has done a fair job in their system compared to other receivers.

"It was a priority for us to retain Brian Finneran, and we're happy that we have gotten this deal accomplished," said Falcons president and general manager Rich McKay. "Brian is an integral part of our passing game and complements our running game with a physical presence, in addition to contributing on special teams."

The Falcons are hoping that their receivers can finally start to produce more after several quiet seasons under Michael Vick.
