Oliver Tomlinson, father of Ladainian Tomlinson, died today at about 1:30 PM when the truck he was riding in blew a tire and flipped on the road.

48-year-old Ronald C. McClain was the driver of the 1969 Chevrolet truck. The two were on a highway east of Waco, Texas near Asa, when a tire blew, causing the pickup truck to swerve out of control and flip over near an intersection. McClain was rushed to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, and was listed in critical condition. Tomlinson was 71.

Oliver's son, LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers, was voted NFL MVP for the 2006 season.
