The Browns aren't getting lucky, and neither is Gary Baxter in a Cleveland uniform after suffering another injury. Baxter, who had just returned this past Sunday against the Denver Broncos after missing several games with a pectoral injury, tore patellar tendons in both of his knees during the first half of the game. The Browns secondary has already been hurting, and are currently without their top three cornerbacks that they began the season with. The injury will cause Baxter to be out for at least a year, probably heading into next year.
"That's sad," said linebacker Andra Davis. "It's unfortunate. I know how badly Gary wants to play."
Baxter missed the final 11 games of the season last year due to a torn chest muscle. Baxter's injury history could lead to his final days as a Cleveland Browns player, but Baxter wants to return.
"He wants to come back," head coach Romeo Crennel said.
Baxter was signed to a five-year, $30 million contract before the 2005 season. The Browns haven't been able to get much production out of him due to how often he has been out with an injury.
