Training camp is about to begin for many teams, and I asked you what your favorite training camp battles would be. Personally, I feel that the battle between Kelly Holcomb, Craig Nall, and J.P. Losman will be one to watch. Holcomb would do the best job, but the Bills can't really stick with a guy who is injury prone after a few games. The Cleveland Browns made that mistake, and it was downhill ever since.

Obviously, there are a lot of competitions, maybe even between rookies, offensive, defensive, special teams players, etc. So, I asked which competition were you looking forward to or interested in the most? Here are your responses, along with my comments in italics:

Well, those are certainly some of the primary battles for young guys, but I don't think any of the rookies will begin the season as the starter. In Arizona's case, Leinart has the least chance to win the job coming out of camp. Warner was impressive last year, and has an outstanding running back in Edgerrin James, unlike last year's poor performance from the ground game. As far as Vince Young goes, Volek is the "veteran" now, and will lead the team to start the season as well. Young will have a chance to take over early due to his ability to make plays. Reggie Bush really won't be competing with Deuce McAllister, as the Saints plan to use both of them in the same package.

"Since both Dennis Green and Norm Chow both said they won't start a rookie at QB, those aren't exactly battles. My battles are McAllister vs. Bush, Alex Smith vs. Dilfer, Bills QB situation, Eagles WR's, Seahawks WR Burleson vs. Jackson, Min QB's, and Min RB's."
Yep, this was also my reason for the answer above. Both rookies will show of their skills in training camp, but it's rare that a rookie actually overtakes the veteran to start a season. In San Francisco, I really don't see Trent Dilfer taking over or Smith, but to act as a teacher instead. That's what he was supposed to do with Charlie Frye in Cleveland last year, but unfortunately, he didn't cooperate as he should have. McNabb definitely needs to find a go-to-guy in the receiving game. Reggie Brown seems to have the advantage, but Jason Avant could make some noise later in the season. In Minnesota, Brad Johnson should have his job secured for the season. On the ground game, Chestor Taylor will get his chance to sign, but the Vikings haven't had a solid running back in years.

These are personally two of my favorite battles heading into the season. The Bears are in a tough position, because Thomas Jones did nothing wrong last year to suddenly lose his job this year. On the same note, you have to give Cedric Benson some playing time in his second season. As far as the Colts go, everyone seems to believe that Joseph Addai will emerge as the starting running back. However, there's a very slim chance that the Colts running game will produce as it has the past couple of seasons.

"I would like to see how Cedric Benson and Thomas "Spin Move" Jones pans out. Hopefully there is a true #1 that developes. Also, on a much more pathetic note, I want to see who gets the Lions #2 WR position. Right now, listed #2 is...Scottie Vines?!? Yes, Scottie Vines. Unless you are a Lions fan or a Wyoming Cowboy fan, you have no clue who he is, but apparently, he is ranked higher then Charles "You boys wanna get high?" Rogers or Mike "Just make me a Tight End already" Williams."
Yes, with all the talent the Lions have drafted the past four years, it's hard to believe that Vines is ahead of two first-rounders. However, with the lack of production that Williams and Rogers have shown, can you really blame the Lions at this point? Rogers has played in 15 games over the past three seasons, due to injury and suspension. Williams is on the verge of getting cut, so who do the Lions really have past that?
