Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth did the stupidest thing imaginable in a football game. In the third quarter against the Dallas Cowboys, Haynesworth
purposely stepped on the head of Cowboys center Andre Gurode. Haynesworth was protesting the personal foul penalty called on him for some reason.
After being called for that penalty, he was flagged again after taking his helmet off and slamming it to the ground. The referees ejected him from the game, as Jeff Fisher was furious at the actions taken by his own player. Haynesworth committed the penalties after a 5-yard touchdown run by Cowboys running back Julius Jones, putting Dallas up 20-6.
Gurode came off the field with ice on his cheek, and he had to receive stitches above his left eye. Haynesworth will definitely receive a heavy fine, and will probably face a suspension from the league. He supposedly knows that what he did was wrong.
"If they suspend me that's fine," Haynesworth said, after the game. "Because for what I did, whatever they give me, I deserve it. I did it and it's wrong. That's not the game of football that's not how it's supposed to be played. I let my team down."
Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe was upset as well.
"There is no place for that in this game," Bledsoe said. "That is something that you hate to see, and something that should not be a part of this game at all."
If I'm the NFL, I would seriously consider suspending Haynesworth for the remainder of the season.
