The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed veteran unrestricted free agent receivers Troy Edwards and Randy Hymes to deals. The Jaguars are in search of depth at the receiving position after receiver Jimmy Smith retired a little over a week ago.
Edwards is no stranger to the Jaguars. He played for them in 2003 and 2004, and then played for the Detroit Lions in 2005. During his career, he has caught 203 passes for 2,404 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Hymes has spent the past five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens after he joined them as a free agent in 2002. He played in 16 games last year, and started three as a receiver, in catching 11 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
"Our approach will be to develop the guys that we have and we have some young talent at that position," Del Rio said. "I remain very confident in the guys that we have that they're going to be able to help us be real effective."
The Jaguars are expecting tight end Marcedes Lewis to step up as well as the team's new tight end.
