New York Jets star defensive end John Abraham was designated as the teams franchise player to a one year deal worth about $6.7 million. He was second on the team with 9.5 sacks last season, but missed the last four games of the season to injury.

In 57 career games, Abraham has 43 sacks but has often been injured.
