The New York Jets have released kicker Doug Brien. The decision was an easy one to make after the Jets had drafted kicker Mike Nugent of Ohio State University in the third round of the draft.

Brien missed two crucial field goals in the playoffs that would have advanced the Jets past the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although Brien kicked for about 83% during his stay with the Jets, those kicks will haunt Jets fans forever.

Brien should be picked up by another team soon.
