After Chad Pennington proved himself worthy of being a starting quarterback again this season, the Jets no longer needed the services of backup Patrick Ramsey, who only threw one pass during the regular season. Ramsey would have made a $1.4 million bonus is he had not been released before Saturday. Ramsey was actually third on the depth chart when rookie quarterback Kellen Clemens moved ahead of him later in the season.
Ramsey was a first-round draft pick in 2002 by the Washington Redskins, but never really lived up to expectations. In his career, he has thrown for 5,649 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions.
