The Green Packers want to improve their defense fast. They made their first step in a positive direction by hiring defensive-minded coach Jim Bates. Bates, who took over the Miami Dolphins head coaching postition as an interim coach at the end of the season was impressive.

The Packers gave up way too many points last season and didn't allow the offense to run the clock out like they can do so well.
