The Miami Dolphins signed linebacker
Joey Porter to a five-year deal worth $32 million. Porter clearly represents the top player that the Dolphins have added in free agency thus far. Porter's deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money. Porter's contract will become official on Wednesday or Thursday if he passes his physical.
Porter has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers during his entire eight-year career and was suddenly released last week so the team could save space in salary cap. Porter would have made $4 million this season, his final year under contract with the Steelers. Porter had 60 sacks during his years with the Steelers, but new head coach Mike Tomlin did not feel he was an integral component of his vision for the team next season.
Porter joins a very talented group of linebackers in Miami, including Zach Thomas and Channing Crowder.
