-
Carolina Panthers veteran defensive end Kavika Pittman will miss the 2004 NFL season after tearing a ligament in his left knee.

Pittman had torn the ACL in his knee in the second game of the 2003 season against Tampa Bay, when Keenan McCardell chopped blocked him.

He felt his knee give away in his first play of the game this preseason, without even being touched. Pittman was expected to play as a backup to Julius Peppers this season.
