Dallas Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen was placed on the injured reserve list due to neck and knee injuries. Since he is getting older, Nguyen is considering retirement now.
"He doesn't feel like he can play up to his standard now," said Cowboys' head coach Bill Parcells. "I think he's going to consider retirement."
Nguyen's neck problems this season began against the Oakland Raiders on September 25th. He missed three games this year, and only played during some passing situations the past four weeks.
"He just physically couldn't withstand some of the things. That's really what the problems were," Parcells said. "You're the first one to know and then it kind of gets you a little depressed, which I think happened to him a little bit too."
The Cowboys signed linebacker Michael Barrow, an 11-year veteran, to take Nguyen's spot. Barrow may play as soon as this week.
