The Detroit Lions have released defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson, who was the first overall pick in the 1994 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Wilkison has been a solid player during his career, and had started 48 straight games for the Lions.

The Lions also re-signed linebacker James Davis to a one-year deal. Last year, Davis played in every game for Detroit, and finished third on the team with 79 tackles. He was originally a fifth-round draft pick in the 2003 draft.
