Seattle Seahawks starting right tackle Sean Locklear was arrested just hours after the team defeated the Washington Redskins this past Sunday for a domestic violence assault. Seattle police were investigating an unrelated incident when they were told that a man, Locklear, was involved in a scuffle with a woman.
The police report states that the woman said that Locklear got mad after she was dancing with another man at Belltown Billiards. He then confronted her and she tried to tell him that she didn't do anything wrong. As she continued walking down the sidewalk, she states that Locklear "grabbed her around the neck." Their are three witnesses that support her claim.
Locklear told police that he grabbed the front of her shirt, and not her neck. Locklear's status for the NFC Championship game against the Carolina Panthers is currently unknown. Seahawks' head coach Mike Holmgren does not believe the incident will be a distraction to the team.
"What I know about it so far -- and I don't know everything -- it should not be," Holmgren said on Monday. "I have to wait on details on that. I am aware of the situation. But right now, I have no comment. When we get more information, (we) will give it to you."
Locklear was a third-round draft pick in 2004.
