Buffalo Bills quarterback
J.P. Losman was held out of the first day of training camp on Tuesday after straining his lower back this week. Losman is currently day-to-day, but will likely be placed on the physically unable to perform list. As soon as he's ready to return, they will remove him from the list.
"It won't have a lot of impact. Hopefully, it'll be very short-lived and he'll be right back on the field," said head coach Dick Jauron after the team's first practice. "I don't know if deflating is a good term. I don't feel deflated. But it wasn't expected, that's for sure. These things, as we know, happen."
Although Losman is being held from practice, he stated that if this were the regular season, he would be ready to play in a game this weekend.
"It's my fault. I was just probably a little too excited, too energetic to get going to camp," Losman said. "We're being extra cautious. We're looking to get out there pretty soon."
While Losman is out, quarterbacks
Craig Nall and
Trent Edwards will see more action. However, unlike last year, there is no quarterback controversy after Losman's impressive effort last season.
