The San Diego Chargers agreed to a new deal with veteran tight end Brandon Manumaleuna on Friday. Manumaleuna will now remain with the team through the 2009 season.

"Brandon's ability to contribute in both the run game and the passing game were key to our success in 2006," said general manager A.J. Smith. "He's an extremely talented blocker but showed last year that he can make a tough catch when we need him to. We're thrilled to have him locked up for another year."

Although he only had 14 receptions last season, Manumaleuna caught three touchdowns. Still, with Antonio Gates being the focal point of the Chargers offense, Manumaleuna is rarely a good pick in fantasy football.
