Washington Redskins starting quarterback Mark Brunell has suffered a broken left index finger. He is expected to miss the next two to three weeks of offseason workouts. The injury occurred earlier in the week, but the organization did not announce it until Friday. Brunell is a lefty, meaning it would affect his throwing until it heals. Brunell is expected to return by the June 16-18 minicamp.
Brunell will be ready for sure by the start of training camp in late July, and the injury should not be considered too serious. Brunell is coming off of an outstanding season, where he threw for 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He led the Redskins to the playoffs for the first time since 1999, but the offense fell flat in the postseason.
