Washington Redskins starting quarterback Mark Brunell is probable for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to an elbow injury. In practice on Thursday, Brunell tossed a few balls a distance of twenty yards.
"He threw today. He's going to practice tomorrow," said trainer Bubba Tyer.
Brunell suffered the elbow injury last week against the Houston Texans, when he broke the NFL record for most consecutive completions in a game (22). He cut his elbow during the game, forcing his arm to be tightly wrapped throughout the week to prevent infection. Brunell suffered a similar with the Jacksonville Jaguars three years ago, which cost him to lose his starting job.
"From his past experience, he is concerned about it," Tyer said. "And it heightened our concern about it, and we're taking as much precaution as we can."
Backup quarterback Todd Collins took most of the snaps during the week, and not Jason Campbell. That likely means that Brunell will start, but Collins will be ready to play as a substitute for Brunell during a game.
