New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan will miss two to four weeks of football after spraining a ligament in his right foot this past Sunday against the Houston Texans. He was injured during the second quarter of the game, and at worst, he would need two months to recover.
"It's really up to how long it takes to heal," Strahan said. "It's not torn, but it's similar to the injury that I had as a rookie that kept me out for several weeks."
Giants head coach Tom Coughlin says that it's hard to determine how long it'll take the Pro Bowl defensive end to recover.
"We're still trying to understand exactly how we are going to see progress," Coughlin said.
With Strahan missing, the Giants hope that Osi Umenyiora or defensive end Justin Tuck will be healthy enough to return for this week's big game against the Chicago Bears. A win for either team could determine who is the No. 1 seed in the NFC at the end of the season.
"We have to assess this thing day to day with the other injured guys and get ready to play with our people," said Coughlin.
This season, Strahan has recorded 33 tackles with three sacks. The Giants will definitely miss him, as he always brings an intimidating presence at pressuring opposing quarterbacks and is a leader on the field.
