It looks like the Dallas Cowboys problems in the secondary will continue for one more week at least. Starting kicker Mike Vanderjagt, who was signed from the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason, probably will not play in Week 1 due to a groin injury. Taking his place will be Shaun Suisham, another kicker on the Cowboys' roster.
"I'm not 100 percent sure right now, but I think I'm going to kick Suisham," Parcells said. "I can change my mind, but I think that's what I'm going to do."
Although Vanderjagt has been practicing, he is not completely healthy yet. Last week in the team's final preseason game in overtime, he missed field goals from 32 and 33 yards. That is very unusual for Vanderjagt, who has an 87.5 percent connection rate on field goals.
Meanwhile, Suisham, who played in three games for the Cowboys last year, has been kicking the ball slightly better in practice.
"As far as I know, I'm kicking. Based on what I've been told," Suisham said. "It's a great opportunity. It's also an opportunity that I didn't necessarily think I was going to have."
