How many injuries will the Green Bay Packers have this year? They continued to pile up when backup running back Najeh Davenport underwent season-ending surgery. Davenport broke his right ankle during the Packers' blowout of New Orleans.

Davenport was starting to replace the injured Ahman Green. The Packers have a bye this week though, and should have Green healthy in Week 7.

"We're going through our options, and we don't feel compelled to fill the spot right away," said Packers' general manager Ted Thompson.

The Packers will have to decide if they will sign a free-agent running back or trade for one. The Packers have already placed Javon Walker and Terrence Murphy - both wide receivers - on the injured reserve.

Davenport had scored two touchdowns before exiting the game. If Green isn't ready to go in Week 7, running back Tony Fisher will likely get the start.

"Let's go. I mean, it's the same situation I was in my rookie year," Fisher said. "I probably get lost in the shuffle just because I do so much third-down stuff. But people forget I am a running back. I can the run the ball."

Fisher is known as a good receiver out of the backfield for the Packers.
