The Baltimore Ravens signed first-round draft pick
Ben Grubbs to a deal on Friday, meaning he'll report to training camp in time for Sunday. The Ravens were pleased to have their picks signed before camp.
"It's good to have each of our draft choices finished prior to the start of Brian (Billick)'s team meeting on Sunday," said general manager Ozzie Newsome.
Grubbs reportedly agreed to a five-year deal worth around $11 million. The deal includes $5.2 million in guaranteed money after being selected 29th overall.
Here is a scouting report on Grubbs from before the draft:
Positives: Ben Grubbs is considered the second best offensive guard in this year's draft, although teams can make a legitimate case of selecting him ahead of Justin Blalock due to having more experience at the position. Grubbs has more quickness and adequate footwork for the guard position than most other guards entering the draft. He has a sizable amount of potential, including his ability to pull towards a certain direction.
Negatives: He needs to improve on finishing his blocks, which also results from his lack of aggressiveness on a consistent basis. Unlike Blalock, Grubbs excels more so in the passing game than he does in power run blocking. On power run plays, he will often get pushed backwards - this is the primary thing he'll have to improve upon to be a solid starter in the NFL.
