It's official: the Bengals know who their No. 1 troublemaker is - and it's not Chad Johnson. Second-year linebacker Odell Thurman has been suspended for the remainder of the season after a charge of drunken driving Wednesday. Thurman had already been suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Thurman's blood alcohol level was at 0.18 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit in Ohio. Carson Palmer understands why the decision was made.
"I think everybody saw that and realized at some point you're not going to get a second chance, a third chance, a fourth chance," Palmer said. "It comes down to decision-making. Coach Lewis is fed up with harping on Odell about doing the right thing at the right time and not being at the wrong place at the wrong time. At some point, I think Marvin's done with it."
The Bengals have started to become a troubled team all around, with six players having charges since December. However, the team is 3-0, and exciting to watch each and every week.
"I think we've got a couple guys who've gotten mixed up and made bad decisions," Palmer said. "In no way will that affect the rest of this team or any other individual players."
Thurman was a second-round draft choice for the Bengals last year, and was a strong candidate for defensive rookie of the year.
