The Green Bay Packers were hoping it wouldn't come down to this: they've lost a quarterback for the rest of the season. Hold your breath though - it wasn't Brett Favre. Although Favre was the man who left the game with what appeared to be possibly a serious injury, it was Aaron Rodgers season that probably came to an end after suffering a broken foot. Rodgers isn't sure when during the game he suffered the injury.
"I didn't want to come out of the game," Rodgers said. "I knew it was bothering me, but I still felt like I could make some plays and I wanted to be out there."
Rodgers was 4-of-12 for only 32 yards in relief of Favre, who had to leave just before halftime with an injured nerve in his elbow. Favre should be ready to go for this week's game, and probably could've returned in the second half against the Patriots if it was a close game. Rodgers will likely be placed on the IR in the next few days, meaning the Packers will be searching for a backup quarterback.
Fortunately for the Packers, Favre's consecutive game streak won't end at 251. The loss to the Patriots was upsetting, but there is still a lot of time left to contend for the sixth playoff spot in the NFC.
Rookie quarterback Ingle Martin is the only other quarterback on the team's roster. Martin was selected in the fifth round of this year's draft.
