The Green Bay Packers have released wide receiver Terrence Murphy, who had a lot of promise as a rookie last year. Murphy was a second-round draft pick and caught five passes for 36 yards. He also returned kicks for the team, which he where he sustained a serious injury. Murphy suffered a bruised spinal cord after a shot by Carolina Panthers' Thomas Davis.
Murphy spent the rest of the season on the injured reserve. The Packers were concerned about his health status and did not want to risk keeping him, even though Murphy said he was good to go. The Packers failed his physical, and then released him.
"After several tests and consultations, we have concluded that Terrence will not be cleared to play for the Green Bay Packers," said Packers general manager Ted Thompson.
There could be a decent market for Murphy, especially since he was a second-round draft pick just last year.
