The New England Patriots signed defensive end Ty Warren to a long-term contract extension on Friday. Warren originally received a six-year deal as a rookie that was set to expire following the 2008 season. His new contract will keep him with the team through 2011.
"I'm glad that both sides could agree," said head coach Bill Belichick. "Obviously, both sides are happy with it, so it was executed."
Last year, Warren recorded career highs of 117 tackles and 7 1/2 sacks, helping lead the Patriots into the postseason. Warren was the 13th overall pick in the 2003 draft.
