The New England Patriots have officially named Josh McDaniels as their offensive coordinator. After Charlie Weis left to coach Notre Dame last year, no one was named the team's coordinator this entire season. Both Bill Belichick and McDaniels called the offensive plays this year.

"Josh has been one of the key components on our offensive staff," Belichick said. "He is very well respected and we look forward to him taking on the coordinator role."

McDaniels official job title was the quarterbacks coach last year. The Patriots running game had to battle through injuries, but QB Tom Brady had a great season, throwing for 28 touchdowns. The Patriots had already named linebackers coach Dean Pees as their defensive coordinator since Eric Mangini left to coach the New York Jets. Mangini was given the official coordinator name when Romeo Crennel left at the same time that Weis did.
