The New England Patriots have signed kick/punt returner Chad Morton in an attempt to improve their return game, which ranked 29th in the NFL last season. The contract is for one year and is worth $600,000, plus incentives worth near the same amount.

In his career, Morton has returned 174 kicks for a 24 yard average and three touchdowns. He's returned 79 punts for a nine-yard avaerage and no touchdowns. The team signed Tim Dwight earlier in the offseason to aid with special teams as well.
