The New England Patriots have signed backup veteran quarterback Doug Flutie. The 42 year old veteran will ackup Tom Brady this season after being behind Drew Brees in San Diego last season.

It was thought that Flutie may retire after this past season, but he has decided to go for at least one more season. Here's what he said on his retirement:

"I'm getting closer. But I have no idea," he said. "It depends how I feel on the field. Being me, being able to play athletically, when I can't do that, I will know it's enough."
