After weeks of not playing due to injury, the Kansas City Chiefs have decided to put Priest Holmes on the injured reserve. Head coach Dick Vermil feels that he'd rather let Holmes get healthy so that he'll be fine for next season, since they aren't in playoff contention anymore.
Vermil said that if the Chiefs were in the hunt still, they probably would not have placed Holmes on the IR.
Despite missing tons of action, Priest Holmes still has 15 TD's this season, and could have had a chance at breaking his record that he set last season.
Now, the Chiefs will alternate with running backs Larry Johnson and Derrick Blaylock. Johnson shined last week, but the Chiefs may be trying to showcase him. There were rumors earlier this season that the Chiefs would deal Johnson, but they never pulled the trigger.
