Young head coaches are quickly becoming a common theme in the NFL. Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis hired 31-year-old Lane Kiffin to be the team's next head coach. Kiffin, who was USC's offensive coordinator, is the youngest head coach in decades.

Kiffin is the son of well-known Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. The Raiders failed to lock a deal with 32-year-old Steve Sarkisian last week, a person they also wanted to be their head coach.

The Raiders will try to erase all memories of Art Shell's dismal season, in which the team finished at 2-14. The Raiders' defense was solid most of the season, but the offense was a complete embarrassment. Kiffin will try to bring back the aerial attack in Oakland, despite questionable reports of whether or not receivers Randy Moss and Jerry Porter will stay on with the team. Oakland only scored 168 points last season, and the team was sacked a league-worst 72 times.
