The Oakland Raiders have signed cornerback Tyrone Poole to a two-year deal. The move will give the team depth in the secondary. Poole, who has been in the league for 11 years, was with the New England Patriots last season.
Poole was only able to play six games over the past two seasons due to injuries. Last year, he played in the first game of the season before leaving with an ankle injury. The Raiders needed help after Charles Woodson was not re-signed.
Poole will join cornerbacks Fabian Washington, Stanford Rutt, and Nnamdi Asomugha in the secondary. Poole was originally a first-round pick in the 1995 draft by the Carolina Panthers. He helped the Patriots win the Super Bowl in 2003, which was arguable the best season of his career.
