The Washington Redskins have finally been able to ship away quarterback Patrick Ramsey - and it didn't even cost that much. The Redskins traded Ramsey to the New York Jets for a sixth-round draft pick in this year's draft. Although Chad Pennington will probably be the starting quarterback, Ramsey gives them the backup option that they did not have last year.
Ramsey was originally a first-round draft pick in 2002 by the Redskins. He was the starter heading into this past season, but got injured in the first game of the season. Mark Brunell took over, and led the rest of the way, even when Ramsey was healthy.
Over four seasons, Ramsey started in 24 games and threw for 34 touchdowns and 29 interceptions, which wasn not too bad.
"I have a lot of respect for both Brooks Bollinger and Chad Pennington, and the work they have put into the Jets," Ramsey said. "I look forward to working with my new teammates and coaches."
Last year after Pennington hurt his shoulder, backup Jay Fiedler hurt himself in the very same game. Bollinger and Vinny Testeverde played over the remainder of the season.
