The Washington Redskins made five cuts on Friday to get under the NFL's salary cap before the deadline. The team released punter Tom Tupa, safety Mike Brown, cornerback Walt Harris, center Cory Raymer, and defensive tackle Brandon Noble. Combined, the cuts will save the Redskins about $7 million in cap space. None of the moves came as surprises.
The team also re-signed running back Rock Cartwright to a four-year deal. Cartwright had 22 tackles on special teams last year, and also did well against the St. Louis Rams when he rushed for 118 yards. Cartwright has served as the third-string running backs behind Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts.
