The Washington Redskins have continued the process of upgrading their offense by signing free-agent wide receiver Antwaan Randle El to a seven-year deal worth about $31 million. The team also signed veteran tight end Christian Fauria to a contract.
The Redskins were in search to improve their offense after struggling in the playoffs. The team traded for Brandon Llyod of th 49ers a few days ago. Redskins' head coach Joe Gibbs believed that Randle El was one of the top players on the market. Last year, he caught 35 passes for 558 yards. He is also a threat on trick plays since he used to play quarterback in college.
Fauria was needed after the team chose not to re-sign tight end Robert Royal. Fauria caught eight passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns. He will be the backup to Chris Cooley, the team's talented, young tight end.
The Redskins offense is already appearing dramatically better than last year, when Santana Moss and Cooley were the only threats in the passing game.
