Ricky Williams wants to be back in the NFL - again. After being suspended for a year for substance abuse, Williams has applied for reinstatement to the league. Williams, who turns 30 in May, wants to return to the Miami Dolphins. Williams would be allowed back in the league after April 27th, if his request is granted. The Dolphins would not comment on the issue since Williams has not officially been reinstated.
Williams retired before training camp in 2004 unexpectedly, and then returned after a four-game suspension at the start of the 2005 season to back up rookie running back
Ronnie Brown. Williams did fairly well that year, running for 743 yards on a 4.4 average.
Williams played Canadian football last season in the CFL for Toronto. Although he missed two months due to a broken arm, he finished the season with 109 carries for 526 yards rushing. He also caught 19 passes for 127 yards. If Williams returns to the NFL and the Dolphins do not want him, there should be a decent market for the veteran running back in a backup role.
