Cleveland, OH. (PFCritics) -- The Miami Dolphins had some concern that Ricky Williams would be risking injury during his one-year stay in the Canadian Football League. Unfortunately, those concerns became a reality. Williams broke his left arm during the first half of a 26-23 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday. Williams will undergo surgery on Monday, and is expected to miss four weeks.

Williams broke his arm when he tried to break his fall from the turf by sticking his left hand out. Although he is still under contract with the Dolphins, they are allowing him to play in the CFL while he is suspended from the NFL for this season.

The Dolphins asked for more information from Toronto Argos president Keith Pelley.

"They just wanted to find out what happened and the two trainers -- Toronto's and Miami's -- talked," said Pelley.

The Dolphins want to make sure that Williams rehabs properly. However, the Argos are not obligated to do what the Dolphins ask, meaning they can play him or sit him whenever they choose to.

Williams has been average-at-best during his first four games in the CFL, rushing for 214 yards on 53 carries. Before his injury in the game, Williams had rushed for 17 yards on four carries.
