This isn't what the Oakland Raiders had in mind when they drafted a franchise tackle three years ago. Robert Gallery will be out two to three weeks after suffering a torn calf muscle on Wednesday. Gallery was moved from right tackle to left tackle this season, but struggled in his first game of the season against the San Diego Chargers. Against the Saints, Gallery gave up three sacks to linebacker Shawne Merriman.
Gallery was the second overall pick in the 2004 draft and has started 30 games at right tackle before this season. It won't get any easier this week for the Raiders, who have to face the Oakland Raiders. Last week, the Raiders were shut out by the Chargers, and ironically, they're facing a team that shut out their opponent last week as well.
Chad Slaughter, who has one start in his five-year career, will take the place of Gallery this week.
