Sources claim that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will begin throwing again next week, which would be the first time since he was injured in a motorcycle accident. He has been physically inactive in regards to football since his accident.
When Roethlisberger begins throwing, he will be testing his strength, stability, and awareness. Although the Steelers want Big Ben to be ready to go by time the season starts, they will be very cautious and patient with his progress.
At the moment, Roethlisberger should be ready by the start of training camp on July 28th. He may even be able to play by the second or third preseason game, which would likely mean he would start the opening game of the season. However, if he is not ready, the coaching staff won't hesitate to hold him out for a game or two.
The main injuries sustained by Roethlisberger were a broken upper and lower jaw, broken nose, and a broken orbital bone. There is some concern that Roethlisberger could develop blurred vision from the damage to his orbital bone, but so far it hasn't been a problem.
