The New Orleans Saints would like to have both Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush on the field at the same time, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network. The tandem would no doubt have the potential to be extremely dangerous, if used appropriately. The system was tested during mini-camp, and will be continued when training camp starts.
Many feel that the Saints will run a similar approach that USC ran, when both Bush and LenDale White were on the field at the same time. Sometimes, White would be the running back, while Bush would motion to a receiver position. Bush will likely be used at running back, wide receiver, punt returner, and kick returner to begin the season.
McAllister should be fully recovered from his knee surgery by the start of training camp. His injury concerns will probably allow Bush to see more playing time.
Besides McAllister and Bush, the Saints also have Aaron Stecker and Michael Bennett on their roster. Bennett has played for the Minnesota Vikings the past few years, but has suffered several injuries. The Saints would be looking for a high mid-round draft pick if a team wanted to trade for Bennett, which likely will not happen unless a team is desperate.
