The New Orleans Saints have signed running back Antowain Smith to a one-year deal. Smith will serve as the backup to Deuce McAllister.

Smith, an eight-year veteran, played for the Tennessee Titans last season. He played often when Chris Brown was injured, carrying the ball 137 times for 509 yards and four touchdowns.

Before the Titans, Smith played for the Patriots a couple of years where he has won two Super Bowl rings.
