The Miami Dolphins have re-signed backup running back Sammy Morris to a one-year deal. Morris was an unrestricted free agent. Morris started two games last year, but spent most of the season backing up rookie Ronnie Brown and veteran Ricky Williams. He rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown. However, he saw a good amount of playing time on special teams, recording a team-high 16 tackles.
Morris saw a lot of playing time two years ago when the team was very thin at the running back position. He was a fifth-round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills back in 2000. Morris will likely be the third-string running back/special teams contributor once again this year.
