Less than a week before the Super Bowl, the Seahawks are already having bad karma. Several players were riding in a van when they were struck by a mechanical security fence. The players jumped from their seats, but no one was injured. The players included RB Shaun Alexander, QB Matt Hasselbeck, Steve Hutchinson, Walter Jones, and Michael Boulware. They were on their way to a downtown news conference.

The Seahawks played the "accident" off as nothing too serious.

"It was a big jerk. That was about it," Jones said. "It was a freak thing. But everyone laughed it off."

Hasselbeck had just removed his seat belt before the gate struck, since he was anticipating getting off. Alexander said everyone was startled by the shake, especially the driver.

"It was crazy," Alexander said. "We all got tossed around a bit inside. But we're all OK."

NFL vice president of security Milt Ahlerich said that the accident would be investigated.

"The most important thing is that no one was injured," he said.
