Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander has tied the record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season. The previous record was set by Priest Holmes just a few seasons ago.
Heading into the game, it looked as if Alexander may not be able to reach the record this year. He only had 24 touchdowns, and would be facing the tough defense of the Indianapolis Colts. The Seahawks caught a break since the Colts rested some of their starters, allowing Alexander to cruise to 139 yards rushing and three touchdowns. The third and tying touchdown came in the fourth quarter, after head coach Mike Holmgreen had already taken him out of the game.
Next week, the Seahawks face the Green Bay Packers. Since the Seahawks have already clinched home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, Alexander's time will be limited. However, there is a very good chance that he'll get the chance to break the touchdown record.
