After an embarrassing loss on national television on Thanksgiving, their have been rumors forming that Detroit Lions head coach Steve Mariucci may have coached his last game for the team. Local media reports in Detroit broke the rumors after a 27-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Mariucci took over before the 2003 season, and has gone 15-28 only.
"Right now, it's a variety of things," said Mariucci, on the Lions issues. "You fix things as you go along, and these things have to get accomplished."
Mariucci took the blame for his team's poor effort against the Falcons.
"I take the responsibility, because I'm the head coach and I should," said Mariucci to the Free Press. "And that's what makes it a little bit frustrating, because where do you start? You identify where we need to be better, and there's a multitude of things."
Detroit, who has been thought of as a "playoff contender" before the season began the past two years, have played horrible numerous times.
